Willie 'Red' L Bowie Jr.

Willie L. ‘Red’ Bowie, Jr., 69, of Abbeville, husband of Theresa Nichols Bowie, died Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Abbeville Area Medical Center. He was born in Abbeville, SC to the late Willie Lee Bowie, Sr. and Polly Jo Dudley Bowie.

Red was employed with Construction Techniques, Iva Plant. He and his wife enjoyed fishing and taking walks. Many days, Red could be found sharing much knowledge with the guys at Hwy 28 Farm & Garden. He was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Calhoun Falls, SC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Dudley Bowie and a son-in-law, Kevin Swaim.

Red is survived by his wife of 22 years, Theresa, of the home; children, Elaine Bowie-Swaim of Lexington, SC, Cindy Armour of Elberton, GA, Cain Bowman of Lowndesville, SC and Lee Bowman (Jamie Burden) of Calhoun Falls, SC; a brother, Anthony Ray Bowie of Hodges, SC; aunt, Anne Dudley Chavis, whom he thought of as a second mom, of Elberton, GA; seven grandchildren, A.J., Emily, Marshall, Luke, Matthew, Grant and Sophie.

The family will receive friends from 4:00PM to 5:30PM on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 6:00PM on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Ellis officiating.
