William Scott Winn

The Winn family mourns the passing of William Scott Winn, 78, of Donalds, husband of the late Mary Elizabeth McConnell Winn. He died Saturday, August 29, 2026, at his home, after many months of declining health. Scott was born in Whitney, SC to the late William Calvin and Mildred Woodcock Winn.

A 1967 graduate of Dixie High School, he continued his education at Piedmont Technical College receiving degrees in Industrial Technology and Industrial Management. Scott honorably served his country in the United States Navy, stationed on the USS John F. Kennedy (CVA67). He was a self-employed gun salesman and cattle farmer. Among the interests that brought him enjoyment was gunsmithing.

Scott was the last surviving member of his family. He is survived by his cousins and extended family members.

A private ‘Family Only’ graveside memorial at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with military honors is planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be sent to Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
