William T. 'Billy' Wilson, Jr.

William T. “Billy” Wilson, Jr., 84, lifelong resident of Abbeville, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Wellmore of Tega Cay. Born in Abbeville to the late William Talmadge Wilson, Sr. and Frances Pruitt Wilson.

A 1959 graduate of Dixie High School, Billy dedicated 42 years to working as a conductor with CSX Railroad before retiring. Alongside his professional career, he had a passion for agriculture, enjoying raising beef cattle and farming for over 50 years. Billy was an active member of Main Street Methodist Church, Abbeville County Cattleman’s Association and SC Forestry Service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Beverly Eakin Wilson and a nephew, Patrick Boyle.

Surviving Billy are his two sons, William T. “Wes” Wilson, III and his wife Kimberly of Lake Wylie, SC, and Eric M. Wilson, M.D., of Greensboro, NC; two sisters, Emily Boyle (Lee) of Athens, GA, and Fran Wilson Chase of Lawrenceville, GA; six grandchildren: Jay, Kate, Dawson, Cody, Kylie, and Tyler; and a nephew, William Chase of Columbia, SC.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel. A celebration of Billy’s life will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Reverend Brandon Fulmer officiating.
