William LeRoy 'Billy' Perry

William LeRoy “Billy” Perry passed away on March 11, 2026, at AnMed Health in Anderson, S.C. Billy was born on September 25, 1947, in Abbeville, S.C. and was the beloved son of the late Claude Allen Perry and Dora Wells Perry.

He grew up in the Sharon community, where he looked forward to going to school each day. As a child, he enjoyed visiting relatives and having family and friends come to see him, something that continued throughout his life. Billy loved to joke and “cut up” with anyone willing to join him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed easily and often.

For the past several years, Billy resided at Linley Park Post Acute in Anderson, S.C. Before moving there, he lived at Rocky River RCF in Belton, S.C. While in Belton, he attended a day program that brought him great happiness. Billy made many friends among both the clients and the staff. He enjoyed everything the program had to offer, especially going out to eat, shopping, attending dances, and visiting the library. He was always quick to share stories of his adventures with his sister.

Billy loved rock and roll, babies, the color red, and his family. He shared his personal rules of rock and roll with his sister, telling her that he listened to rock and roll every day of the week except Sundays, which were reserved only for gospel music.

He attended Strait Christian Church in Belton, where he felt loved and accepted. Billy enjoyed dressing up for church in a suit and tie and proudly telling others how good he looked. Although he was warmly welcomed there, Billy wanted to be like many of the men in the congregation who were bald, so one day he took an electric razor and shaved half of his head before deciding to stop.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Stevie Perry; his nephew, John David Perry; and his brother-in-law, Robert Duffy.

Billy is survived by his sister, Claudette Duffy; nieces Debbie Duffy and Kristina Burnett (Jack) and their children, Sophie and Ben; nephews Eddie Perry and Philip Perry; and several cousins.

Billy’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation, love, and gratitude to everyone who cared for him, especially Mama Hen.
