William Burgess Doty

Mr. William Burgess Doty, 85, of 201 Vine St., died Dec. 31, 2002, at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare.

Born in Sardinia, he was a son of the late Rev. Arthur Francis and Arrie Rose Doty. He was a retired State Health Supervisor and Administrator for Cherokee County Health Department with 25 years of service. He was a member of Limestone Presbyterian Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Sarah Thomson Doty of the home; a son, Ringan Thomson Doty and his wife, Rebecca Doty, of Brunswick, Ga.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Doty of Brunswick; and a stepgrandson, John H. Coty of Los Angeles, Calif.

Visitation: Anytime at the residence, 201 Vine St. Service: 11:30 a.m. today, Jan. 2, 2003 at Limestone Presbyterian Church, Gaffney with the Rev. Dan Youngblood officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial: Long Cane Cemetery, Abbeville.

Pallbearers will be David Clary, David Mabry, Ray Mabry Jr., Ralph Wilborn, Greg Kirby and Ken Byars.

The family is at the residence.
