W.F. "Bill" Snipes

March 21, 1923 — December 18, 2018

W.F. ‘Bill’ Snipes, 95, of Calhoun Falls, husband of the late Sue Boland Snipes, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his home.  He was born in Honea Path, SC to the late John Eugene and Ethel Tinsley Snipes.

Mr. Snipes attended Erskine College where he played on the 1946 Erskine football team. He was a distinguished service member of the United States Army and served in the South Carolina House of Representatives for Abbeville County from 1973 - 1974. Mr. Snipes was the owner and operator of Snipes Firestone in Calhoun Falls.  He was a Shriner, a Mason and member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church

In addition to his wife of 71 years and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Grover Eugene Snipes, two brothers, Charles and J.T. Snipes.

Mr. Snipes is survived by two sons, John Snipes (Betzi) of Lake Secession and Bennie Snipes (Sherry) of Abbeville; a daughter, Connie S. Campbell (Larry) of Lincolnton, GA; a sister, Suzie Snipes Owens of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Kandi Collins (Matt), Dustin Snipes, Brian Campbell, Kelli Robertson (Allen), Benjamin Snipes (Sharon), Krista Snipes and Jonathan Snipes (Anna); twelve great-grandchildren, Austin, Keegan, Kolt, Ella Brian, Allie Drake, Campbell, William, Leigha, Britton, Harper, Matthew and Hollis; and his beloved dog and constant companion, Bogey.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be 3:00PM, Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Snipes, may be sent to Rice Memorial Baptist Church, 1975 Highway 72 W, Greenwood, SC 29646.
