Wanetta Ruth Berard (Oare)

Wanetta Ruth Berard, 88, of Abbeville, wife of the late Harry Berard, Jr., died Sunday, November 21, 2021, at her home. She was born in Gloversville, NY to the late Walter Oare and Catherine Fayette Rockenstyre Oare.

‘Nita’, as she was affectionately known, was a loving, devoted wife to her late husband, Harry. She was a member and elder of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church and involved with their senior group, Long Canites. She enjoyed gardening and baking treats to share.

In addition to her husband and parents, Nita was preceded in death by a son, Michael Martin Moccaldi, III; four brothers, Walter Oare, Jr., Bernard Oare, John Oare and Fred Oare; and three sisters, Marie Early, Delores Erb and Christina Sartin.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Alice ‘Toni’ Moccaldi of Lynn Haven, Fl; sister, Marilyn Oathout of Gloversville, NY; two grandchildren, Sean Kroeger of PA and Michael Martin Moccaldi, IV of Lakeland, FL and two great-granddaughters, Tessa Kroeger and Ashlyn Moccaldi.

A service to celebrate Nita’s life will be 10:30AM, Saturday, November 27, 2021 in Harris Funeral Home - Abbeville Chapel with Rev. Wayne Wicker officiating.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Nita, may be sent to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
