Virginia McKinney Whiten

Virginia McKinney Whiten, 83, resident of Abbeville Nursing Home, formerly of McGowan Ave. widow of the late George William Whiten passed away Friday Jan. 9, 2008 at the nursing home.

Born in Greenville, SC she was a daughter of the late Nora McKinney.

Mrs. Whiten was a retired textile employee with Abbeville Mills. She was also of the Baptist faith. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and sister and will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.

Survivors include 3 sons George William Whiten, Jr. and his wife Sue of Greenville, SC, Dale Whiten and his wife Claudia of Abbeville, SC and Mike Whiten also of Abbeville, SC; a half sister Catherine Guy of Greenville, SC; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson William Randolph Whiten and a great-grandson Ethan McCord.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday Jan. 11, 2009 at 2:00 PM in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The body is at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after services at the gravesite

The family is at the home of her son Mr. & Mrs. Dale Whiten 2935 Cedar Springs Rd. Abbeville, SC.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
