Verna "Watson" Morris

Verna Watson Morris, 98, of Abbeville, wife of the late John ‘H’ Morris, died Monday, June 04, 2018 at the Edgefield County Hospital. She was born in Washington, GA to the late Elisha Alvin and Ruby Vaughn Watson.

Mrs. Morris retired from Milliken & Co. – Abbeville Plant after many years of service.  She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and an active member of the Morning Stars Senior Group as long as her health permitted.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas H. Morris and four sisters, Rosa Harrison, Everlee Horne, Nannie Sadowski and Grace Crane.

Mrs. Morris is survived by a daughter-in-law, Elaine Morris of Goldsboro, NC; four grandchildren, Tommie Coleman (Rev. Robert Coleman), Dr. John Andrew Morris (Linda), Jo Lynn Knight (Mitch), and Stephanie Howard (Jeffrey); four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. James C. Watson (Bobbie Nell) and Billy Ray Watson (Jane); and three sisters, Ojetta Breazeale, Jean Shaw and Vera Bagwell.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM – 3:30PM, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville. Funeral services will begin at 4:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Robert Coleman and Rev. M.J. Shoemaker officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
