Tommy Banes Jr.

George Thomas ‘Tommy’ Banes, Jr., 70, of Greenwood, husband of the late Marlene Hawthorne Banes, died Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Self Regional Healthcare. He was born in Greenwood, to the late George Thomas Banes and Helen Whatley Banes.
A 1969 graduate of Greenwood High School, Tommy was employed with Moore Business forms for 34 years. He honorably served his country in the SC National Guard. As a member of the Piedmont Wood Carvers Club, Charlotte Woodcarvers Club and Mt. Traditions Woodcarving Club in Virginia, he found gratification in his woodcarving skills.
Tommy is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Gandee (Chris) of Summerville; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Dylan and Nathan; and a sister, Linda Temples of Greenwood.
Graveside services will be held 11:00AM, Monday, November 1, 2021 in Greenville Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Donovan Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
