Tim A. Reeves

Tim A. Reeves, 80, of Abbeville, husband of Shirley Young Reeves, passed away, Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Abbeville Area Medical Center. He was born in Roderfield, WV to the late Howard and Virginia Reeves.

A 1964 graduate of Welch High School in West Virginia, Tim honorably served his country in the United States Army. He went on to build a remarkable career in the telephone communications industry, retiring first from GTE and later from Verizon as a supervisor.

Tim enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and especially loved being outside. Cutting grass was something he truly took pleasure in and he also enjoyed fishing, a pastime that reflected his love of the great outdoors. Tim was known as a handyman who appreciated staying busy and putting his skills to use. He was a member of the Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Buddy Reeves, Myrta Murrow and Lynn Howard.

Tim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley; two sisters, Melbie Jones of Kingstree, SC and Sandra Clayton of California; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 3:00PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel with Rev. Ray Massey officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
