Thomas 'Tommy' Eugene Smith

Thomas Eugene Dewey 'Tommy' Smith, 51, formerly of Abbeville, died Sunday, September 20, 2026, in Myrtle Beach. He was born in Vidalia, GA to the late Jewel Willis and Mildred Taylor McCord Smith.

Tommy attended Abbeville High School. He will be remembered as someone with a good personality who was fun to be around. Tommy brought humor into the lives of others and was known for making time together enjoyable. His presence left an impression on those who knew him. Tommy enjoyed fishing and hunting, interests that brought him happiness and reflected his love of the outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Hattaway.

Tommy is survived by his children, Katelyn Smith and Justin Smith of Tennessee, Anna Smith Hedden (Caleb) of Abbeville and John ‘Dalton’ Bannister of Due West; two sisters, Michelle Foster (Michael) of Ware Shoals and LeAnn Godwin of Aiken; and three brothers, Walter McCord (Deannie) of Calhoun Falls, Harold McCord (Barbara) of Mauldin and Sam McCord (Angie) of Abbeville.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00PM – 6:00PM, Friday, September 25, 2026, at the home of Caleb and Anna Hedden.
