Terry (Luke) Steve Waters, 74, of Calhoun Falls, passed away on February 21, 2026, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood. Born on June 22, 1951, he was the son of the late SFC. John Steve and Mattie Cain Waters.
Luke was a distinguished athlete during his time at Calhoun Falls High School, where he showcased his talents in football, basketball, and baseball. He furthered his passion for the sport by playing American Legion baseball in Greenwood, SC. After dedicating 14 years to Michelin Tire in Sandy Springs, Luke retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
A devoted member of Northside Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 181 in Calhoun Falls, Luke nurtured a deep connection with his community. He was an ardent supporter of the Clemson Tigers and Atlanta Braves, and he reveled in his passion for golf, often reminiscing about achieving a hole in one at Hickory Knob. His love for the outdoors was apparent, as he could often be found tending to his yard, undeterred by the heat. Luke took immense pride in his family, celebrating the achievements of his children and cherishing every moment spent with his grandson, Brody.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William ‘Billy’ Patterson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Peggy Lee Waters of Calhoun Falls; daughter Lauren Waters Smith (Jonathan) of Anderson; son Garrett Waters (Liz) of Abbeville; and siblings June McCall (William) of Calhoun Falls, Randy Waters (JoAnn) of Anderson, Kay Cape of Abbeville, and Dee Waters of Greenville; his mother-in-law, Jo Payne Patterson, of Calhoun Falls, SC.
In a gesture of compassion, Luke's legacy will continue through his generous corneal donation to Miracles in Sight.
A service celebrating Luke's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Jody Wynn and Rev. Jerry Dalton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
