Sybileen Faye Fields Branyon

Sybileen Faye Branyon 91, longtime resident of Honea Path entered into her eternal rest on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy defined by her quick wit, her talented hands, and a heart that delighted in serving those around her.

Born in Anderson on November 21, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John V. Fields and Euzelia Cooley Fields. Sybileen was a woman who understood the value of dedication and hard work. For many years, she applied her skills as a professional seamstress, working at both the Metric Shirt Plant and the Honea Path Shirt Company. Even later in life, she remained active in the workforce at Walmart, where her spirited personality made her a joy to work alongside.

To know Sybileen was to experience a delightful combination of sweetness and sass. She was humble and kind, yet she possessed a sharp, witty sense of humor that could light up a room and keep everyone on their toes. She found her greatest purpose in joyfully serving others, never seeking recognition but simply doing what needed to be done to care for the people she loved.

Above all else, Sybileen’s life was centered on her family. Her proudest achievement was the family she built and the unconditional love she poured into them. She shared a remarkable 66 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Johnny Branyon, a union that stood as a testament to commitment and devotion. As a mother and grandmother, she was fiercely protective and deeply loving. The title of "Mema" was one she wore with immense pride, and her influence on her children and grandchildren will remain a guiding force in their lives.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Sybileen walked closely with the Lord throughout her life. She was a devoted member of the community of believers at Austin Road Baptist Church and Keowee Baptist Church of Honea Path. Her life reflected the biblical call to joyfully serve others, a trait she demonstrated daily through her actions and her spirit. Her family takes great comfort in the knowledge that she has been reunited with her husband and parents in Heaven.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Branyon; her sisters, Opal Cole and Janice Torcia; and her great granddaughter, Ansley Alewine.

Sybileen is survived by her loving daughter, Karen Brock, who faithfully provided in-home care for the last six years; her devoted son, Dean Branyon (Tonya) of Abbeville; her sister, Johnnie Carolyn McMahan of Belton; her grandchildren, Alicia Dover (Jeff) and Krystal Alewine (Jacob Brancher) all of Toccoa, Ga, Jessica Young (Jamey) of Iva, and Katie Lee Kelly (Taylor) of Simpsonville; her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Zachary, and Summer (Mace) Sawdy, Brayden Addison, Jacey and Jentry Dover, Parker Kelly, (soon to be) baby girl Young, Makayla and Keely Holbrooks, and Asher and Troy Brancher.

In keeping with Sybileen’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a graveside service at 1:00PM, Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Alvin Hodges officiating.
