Susan 'Melanie' Pittman

Susan ‘Melanie’ Clarke Pittman, 76, of the Savannah Lakes Community, wife of Daniel C. ‘Dan’ Pittman, died Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the hospice house in Greenwood, SC. She was born on August 16, 1949 in Campbellsville, KY to the late Dorsey and Nadine Hedgespeth Clarke.

Melanie began her professional career as a nurse, offering compassionate care to those in need. Later, she transitioned into the apparel industry, where her attention to detail and creativity shone brightly. Eventually, Susan found her calling in the insurance industry, retiring as a benefits counselor after providing invaluable guidance and support to countless individuals navigating important life decisions.

Melanie found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved cooking and baking, often filling her home with the comforting aromas of her favorite recipes. Above all, Melanie cherished spending time with her family and grandchildren, creating treasured moments that will live on in their hearts. The role of grandmother was not just a title for Melanie — it was her greatest joy and the legacy she cherished most deeply.

Melanie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Dan; her daughter, Cynthia Pittman Santa Ana (Angel) of Little River, SC; and two grand-daughters, Malena Isabella Santa Ana and Mia Graciella Santa Ana.

To honor the family’s wishes, there will be no services held in South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions, in memory of Melanie, be sent to the Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
