Stephen “Mark” Campbell, 61, of Jasper, GA, adored husband of Angela Turner Campbell, died Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at his home. He was born March 31, 1965 in Abbeville, SC to Brenda Jordan Campbell and the late Joseph Ralph Campbell.
Mark graduated from Calhoun Falls High School, Class of 1983, and earned his Ph.D. from Capella University, Class of 2013. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After the Navy, Mark began his law enforcement career as a Deputy with Abbeville County and eventually retiring as a Master Deputy from Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. Mark later retired from CSX railroad where he was a Conductor and then a Conductor Trainer.
His interests extended beyond his career to his numerous hobbies, which included farming, beekeeping, and caring for horses and various animals. More than anything else, he treasured the time spent with his Angela, their children, and grandchildren. They enriched his life beyond measure and he loved them unconditionally with all of his heart.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by their son, Stephen Mark Campbell II and his brother, Gregg Campbell.
Mark is survived by his wife of 37 years, Angela, of the home; his mother, Brenda, of Calhoun Falls; two sons, Joe Campbell (Katy) and Turner Campbell (Kayla); and three grandchildren, Finn Vose, Ben Campbell, and Hazel Campbell who is expected in August.
The family will receive friends 1:30PM-2:30PM, Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel, 526 E Savannah St., Calhoun Falls, SC. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Scotty Willoughby and Rev. Derwood Perkins officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Mark, may be sent to the Lowndesville Pentecostal Holiness Church, PO Box 27, Lowndesville, SC 29659.
