Shirley K. Scott Giles

Shirley K. Scott Giles, 81, of Abbeville, wife of the late James Thomas Giles, died Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson. She was born in Abbeville to the late Julian Clyde ‘Bud’ and Sallie Mae Payton Scott.

Shirley began her career at Burlington Industries in Calhoun Falls before retiring from the Abbeville Nursing Home. She drew strength and purpose from her faith as a member of the Abbeville Congregational Holiness Church where she enjoyed singing and spending time with her church family. Shirley will be remembered for her kindness and compassion by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She enjoyed going to the Abbeville Senior Center to have lunch and sharing memories with her friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Julian Leroy Scott; her sister, Lucile Scott Wiley; and her grandson, Brad D. Evans.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Donna Couch (Steve) of Ware Shoals; four nieces, Yvette Ruzicka (Dennis) of Anderson, Debra B. McMahan (Bob), Carol B. Wilson (Randall) and Cathy Burdette all of Abbeville; two nephews, Everette Burdette and Kenneth Scott; two grandchildren, Trista M. Forhand of Elberton, GA and D.J. Stockman of Ware Shoals, SC; nine great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held 1:00PM, Saturday, March 7, 2026 in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Tim Dorsey officiating.
