Sheryl McCurry Brown

Sheryl McCurry Brown, 76, of Abbeville, wife of John Pat Brown, Jr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Abbeville to the late Jack Andrew McCurry, Sr. and Sara ‘Reny’ Woolbright McCurry.

Sheryl was a graduate of Abbeville High School. Throughout her career, she spent meaningful years at Abbeville Shirt Makers and later at Security Finance. A devoted member of South Side Baptist Church for many years, Sheryl took great pride in singing in the choir. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Karen Elaine McCurry and sister-in-law, Patricia Davis McCurry.

Sheryl is survived by her husband of 46 years, John Pat, of the home; her children, Dana Able Ivey of Abbeville, Christina Able Stokes (Dino) of Greenwood, Wendy Brown Klein of Atlanta, GA, Jason Able of Abbeville, SC, and Hannah Beth Brown of Greenwood; two brothers, Jack A. McCurry, Jr. and Timothy ‘Tim’ McCurry, both of Abbeville; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

The family extends their grateful appreciation to Sara Nell Able and Dana Ivey for their love and care of Sheryl.

The family will receive friends 1:30PM – 2:30PM, Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joel Bradberry and Rev. Tim Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
