Sherry Riley Meetze

Sherry Riley Meetze, 74, of Belton, wife of the late John Meetze, died Monday, June 10, 2024, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Kingsport, TN to the late John C. Riley, Jr. and Ruth Janet Smith Riley.

Sherry was employed as a sales clerk and prison employee, retiring after many years of loyal service.   She led a fulfilling life marked by warmth, kindness and unwavering love for her family.  Her passion for sports, particularly baseball, brought immense joy into her life.  Sherry’s enthusiasm for exploring flea markets and jockey lots brought out her adventurous spirit and eye for hidden treasures.

Sherry is survived by a son, Stephen Leaird of Camden; two daughters, Jenny Ayala of Colorado and Sarah Leaird of Kershaw, SC; brother, Barry Riley of Georgia; six grandchildren, Maggie Grace, Andrew, Madeline, Erin, Jeshua and Isaiah; and a very dear friend and caregiver, Teresa Hozey of Belton.

A celebration of Sherry’s life will be 5:00PM, Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the home of Teresa Hozey, 110 Jason Drive, Belton, SC 29627.
