Shelvia J. Evenson

Shelvia J. Evenson, 71, of Abbeville, SC, wife of Eric G. Evenson, died Friday, April 24, 2026, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, SC. She was born in Augusta, GA to the late William Allen and Myrtis Smith on August 29, 1954.

A 1972 graduate of Belleville High School, Shelvia began her career with a heartfelt focus on helping others, working as a medical receptionist. Later, she retired from Carolina Auto Restoration Services in Abbeville, SC, where she was valued for her diligent work ethic and attentiveness working alongside her husband, Eric. Shelvia served on the Abbeville Area Medical Center Foundation for two years, contributing her time and energy to support local healthcare initiatives.

Her personal interests were rich and varied. Shelvia enjoyed working in interior design, a pursuit that allowed her to express her creativity and attention to detail. As a member of the Greenwood Country Club, she embraced social opportunities and nurtured friendships. Above all, she cherished her beloved cats—Blueberry, Strawberry, Cream Puff, and Misha—who brought comfort and companionship to her life.

Shelvia is survived by her husband of 35 years, Eric, of the home; her son, Richard Crouse and two grandsons, Philip and Eric Crouse, all of Abbeville, SC.

All services will be private.
