Sammie Sails

Sammie Sails, 91, of Calhoun Falls, SC, husband of the late Bessie Mae Tillman Sails, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023, in Elberton, GA at the home of his niece.  He was born in Plum Branch, SC on September 27th, 1931, the son of the late Rueben and Carrie Davis Sails.

Mr. Sails was a graduate of the former Ellison High School in Calhoun Falls, SC. Following graduation, he served his country with honor in the United States Army and continued to be a proud veteran his entire life.  Mr. Sails retired from S. F. Sherard and Sons after many years of dedicated service. His kind-hearted nature and warm personality will always be remembered by those whose lives he touched. Mr. Sails was a member of Glover AME Church.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Left to cherish his memories are, Betty Ubah, Ollie Rollinson, Shirley Jones (Freddie), Carl Rollinson and host of great nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends 5:00PM - 7:00PM, Tuesday, June 20, 2023, in Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel, 526 E. Savannah Street, Calhoun Falls, SC.  Funeral services will be 1:00PM, Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Glover AME Church, 16 Glover Church Road, Calhoun Falls, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
