Robert William Vaughn, Sr.

Robert W. Vaughn, Sr., 81, of Iva, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the Abbeville Area Medical Center. He was the beloved husband to Linda Ellen Jones Vaughn. Born in Six Mile, SC, he was the son of the late Robert Bolt Vaughn, Jr and Geneva Sanders Vaughn.

A 1963 graduate of Liberty High School, Robert proudly served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Antisubmarine Warfare Technician. His professional journey included a dedicated tenure as a Computer Technician with Michelin Tire Company for 24 years.

A member of Carswell Baptist Church, Robert was committed to guiding others as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. He was also a Shriner and a member of the Iva Masonic. Lodge #238 A.F.M. Beyond his professional and community contributions, he had a passion for leather crafting and woodworking. He cherished moments spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Dove, a great-granddaughter, Adeline Gantt and a son, Shawn West.

Mr. Vaughn is survived by his wife, Linda of 32 years of the home; children, Robert W. Vaughn, Jr., (Christie) of Liberty, SC, Chris Vaughn (Laura) of Iva, SC, Shelli Fleming (Jason) of Lowndesville, SC, Blake West (Maria) of Ransom, W.VA, and Jason M. West of Jackson, TN; a sister, Joyce Elaine Sherer (Larry) of Easley, SC; sixteen grandchildren, Jacob, Josh, Jordan, Megan, Justin, Thomas, Matt, Brady, Brooklyn, Elizabeth, C’Anna, Ethan, Hunter, John, Madison, and Robbie; eight great-grandchildren and host of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home, 302 North Main St. Abbeville, SC. Funeral services will be on Wednesday beginning at 2:30PM in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Bud Rager and Rev. Greg Moon officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery, 329 Hwy 20 Abbeville, SC.
