Robert H. ‘Bob’ Wildes, 84, of Greenwood, SC, husband of the late Linda ‘Fay’ Page Wildes, died Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at his home. He was born in Brentwood, NH to the late Harry S. and Violet ‘Ada’ Sheys Wildes.
A proud 1962 graduate of the University of South Carolina, Bob cherished his alma mater and remained an enthusiastic Gamecock fan throughout his life. He was a lifelong Teamster, dedicating much of his career to Georgetown Construction in Newburyport, MA as a dispatcher where he retired after 37 years of dedicated service.
Bob was a man of many interests. He had a deep appreciation for all sports and was an enthusiastic collector of sports memorabilia. Friends recall his enjoyment of card games, which brought him together with others to share laughter and friendly competition. Never one to shy away from learning something new, Bob counted among his proud accomplishments the pursuit of taxidermy and locksmithing. He took classes in both fields, embracing the opportunity to expand his skills and knowledge. Bob was a member of South Side Baptist Church in Abbeville, SC.
In addition to his wife, Fay, and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Black and Kathy Wildes.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Robin Lynn Wildes of the home; brother, John R. Wildes (Wendy) of Salem, NH; three grandchildren, Michael Williams Wildes, Mary Emma Riley and Matthew Benjamin Riley; three great-grandchildren, Victoria Frances Riley, Kristine Fay Riley and Summer Rayne Wildes; and numerous extended family and friends.
To honor Bob’s wishes, a reception to celebrate his life will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 4:00PM - 6:00PM at his home in Greenwood, SC
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions, in memory of Bob, be sent to South Side Baptist Church, 505 W. Greenwood, Street, Abbeville, SC 29620 or Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
