Robert Lawrence Sherard, Jr.

Robert Lawrence Sherard, Jr., 32, passed away in a car accident on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in Charleston, SC where he worked welding submarine parts, precision work that demanded a steady hand, skill, and focus.

He was a welder by trade and a free spirit at heart. Robert loved the outdoors and found joy in staying active, especially through hiking, running, biking, kayaking, steer wrestling, and horse-back riding. His adventurous nature and independent spirit were defining parts of who he was. Generous, funny, head-strong and a bit quirky at times, he lived his life with grit and heart.

Robert is survived by his father, Robert ‘Bobby’ Lawrence Sherard and wife, Kim, of Calhoun Falls; mother, Anne Pittman and husband, Brad, of Westminster; sisters, Lanier Sherard of Calhoun Falls and Leah Emily (Justin) of Goose Creek; step-brothers, Derek Kilgore and Alex Kilgore (Katie), all of Abbeville; grandmother, Mrs. Frank Sherard, Jr.; nieces, Daphne Smith and Emma Emily; nephew, William Smith; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mr. Frank Sherard, Jr.

His life, though far too short, was filled with adventure and passion. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 2:00PM in the Harris Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Phil Keown officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
