Robert Allen Briggs

Robert Allen ‘Bob’ Briggs, 74, of Abbeville, husband of Rebecca Heath Briggs, died Friday, September 17, 2021 at Self Regional Healthcare. He was born in Lima, Ohio to the late James and Jeanette (Poehler) Briggs.
Robert was a graduate of Lima Senior High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Army, Delta Force, serving in the Vietnam War and earning a Purple Heart. Robert retired from Ford Motor Company with 31 years of service. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Jonesboro, GA. Robert found pleasure in traveling, especially to Alaska. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving, boating and archery. Robert will be remembered as a great husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lee Briggs.
Robert is survived by his wife, Rebecca, of 51 years; two daughters, Wendi Carson (Chris) of Newnan, GA and Stephanie Campbell (Manns) of Senoia, GA; siblings, Fred Briggs (Marcia) of Fort Wayne, IN and Mary Winegarner (Bill) of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Patrick Carson, Andrew Carson, Emily Campbell and Brooke Campbell; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Robert, may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
