Paul Jackson ‘Jackie’ Edmunds, Jr., 87, of McCormick, husband of Mary Gable Edmunds, passed away, Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born December 26, 1938, in McCormick to Paul Jackson Edmunds, Sr. and Lillian Oculese Holiday Edmunds.
Jackie was a proud graduate of McCormick High School. He honorably served his country for 32 years in the South Carolina National Guard, retiring as a Sergeant, a testament to his commitment and sacrifice. Jackie also retired from Milliken & Co. – McCormick Plant after more than 40 years of dedicated service as a maintenance technician. He was a devoted family man, whose greatest joys came from spending time with his loved ones. A member of Buffalo Baptist Church, Jackie was also a Mason and member of Mine Lodge #117 in McCormick. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will be missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dale Jackson Edmunds.
Jackie is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary; daughter, Tammy Hill (Dickie); brother, Ronnie Dale Edmunds (Virginia); sister, Brenda Edmunds Lewis, all of McCormick; and a grandson, Charles “Andy” Hill (fianceé, Harlie) of Greenville.
A service to celebrate Jackie’s life with full military honors will be 2:00PM, Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Buffalo Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Marty Wiles officiating. The family will receive family and friends following the service.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Jackie, may be sent to Buffalo Baptist Church, SC 28 S, McCormick, SC 29835; or Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646; or Mine Lodge #117, 900 Greenwood Hwy., McCormick, SC 29835.
