Nancy Guy Peeler

Nancy Ellis Guy Peeler, a beloved resident of Greenville and formerly of Abbeville, peacefully passed away on August 26, 2023, surrounded by the care of hospice after battling declining health for several years.

Nancy was born on August 1, 1935, in Abbeville to her parents, Mattie Uldrick Ellis and Dick Ellis. She was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, Ludie and Cliff King. Nancy completed her education at Abbeville High School and pursued her passion for singing by studying voice at Erskine College.

Known for her nurturing nature as a mother and grandmother, Nancy found immense joy tending to her garden, singing, and creating beautiful flower arrangements. She had an unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior. Jesus Christ. 

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Edward D. Guy. Nancy and Ed shared a long and fulfilling marriage while raising their family together. They found great pleasure in attending Clemson sporting events and embarking on travel adventures. Fortunately, they were blessed with the opportunity to witness the birth of all their grandchildren before Ed's passing in 1990. Several years later, Nancy returned to Abbeville where she later married Fred Peeler until his passing in 2012.

Left to cherish precious memories are her son Joe Guy (Karin) of Dahlonega, GA; daughter Ann Looney (David) of Greer, SC; grandchildren Claire Jennings (Scott) of Hampstead, NC; Chip Guy (Jeni) of Atlanta; Brian Looney of Kelowna BC Canada; Chris Looney (Caroline) of Hillsboro, VA; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service honoring Nancy's life will be held in Long Cane Cemetery on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00AM..
