Nancy London Bollinger

Nancy London Bollinger, 89, of Greenwood, died Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Wesley Commons Health and Rehabilitation Center in Greenwood.

Nancy was born on April 20, 1936, to the late Forest and Edith Overcash London in Mooresville, NC. She graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College in 1957 and taught for 30 years, mostly in the first grade, which she enjoyed dearly.

Nancy married John H. Bollinger on December 15, 1956. When John finished his studies at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbia, SC in the spring of 1958, they began a ministry together serving parishes in Gladesboro, VA, Salisbury, NC, Snyder, Texas, Guyana, South America and Dallas, NC. They retired to their Mountain House near Boone NC in 1993, becoming active members of Grace Lutheran Church. They left the mountain only grudgingly when their health began to deteriorate. After John’s death in December of 2021, Nancy became a resident of Jasmine Cottage at Wesley Commons in Greenwood, SC.

Nancy’s brother, Joe London, preceded her in death earlier this year. She is survived by a daughter Lynn (husband, David Isenhower, MD) of Greenwood, SC and 2 sons, Mark Bollinger (wife Karen) of Jumping Branch, WV and the Rev. Craig Bollinger (wife Marilyn) of Charlotte, NC. Nancy loved visits from her grands and great grands: Matthew Isenhower (wife Christina and son Jacob), Jason Isenhower (wife Megan and son Connor), John Isenhower (wife Ashley and daughters Adalyn and Emmagene), Christy Bollinger Stefanides (husband Chris and son Watson), Gayle Bollinger Berry (husband Jordan and son Judson), Steven Bollinger (wife Paige and children Liam and Mila), Sarah Bollinger Green (husband Jack and sons, Jack and Jase), Sonia Bollinger Walkup (husband Clint and daughter Emma). John and Nancy hosted the grands for Cousins’ Camp on the mountain for many years.

Nancy was a donor to The University of Miami's Brain Endowment Bank, a leading brain and tissue biorepository. The bank facilitates brain tissue donations for research, specifically focusing on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenwood, SC on Monday, June 16, at 10:30am followed by a reception in the Fellowship Center. The family will then travel to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dallas, NC for burial beside John at 4pm.

The family is grateful for the loving care provided to Nancy by the staff of the Jasmine Cottage, as well as her hospice team.

As Nancy loved teaching and their time in the mission field, the family suggests that memorial gifts be made to Matthew 2540, the non-profit started by her children whose goal is to provide educational opportunities for impoverished children in Guatemala. Online gifts may be made at www.matthew2540.net under the memorial gifts tab.
