Michael A. ‘Mike’ Simpson, 60, of Abbeville, SC, husband of Cindy Brown Simpson, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Self Regional Healthcare, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Port St. Joe, FL to the late Preston Chalmers Simpson, Sr. and Mildred Register Simpson.
Mike was a proud graduate of Wewahitchka High School, Class of 1983. His career led him to contribute significantly to several different companies, beginning at Milliken & Co. from 1985 to 1992 and later to Plexco from 1992 to 1996. His career concluded at Prysmian Cable, where he held the position of CV Machine Operator from 1996 until 2006. Mike took pride in his work which was evident in every task he undertook.
His life was enriched by his love for family and animals, especially dogs. Those fortunate enough to share his life knew of his unwavering dedication to caring for his loved ones. He was a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church in Greenwood, SC.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cindy, of the home; two children, William Allen Simpson (Hope) of Hodges, SC and Nichole Simpson of Abbeville, SC; three brothers, Preston Simpson, Jr. (Tammy) of Simpsonville, SC, Curtiss Simpson (Angie) of Greenwood, SC and Paul Simpson (Becky) of Wewahitchka, FL; sister, Dorothy Simpson of Panama City, FL; two grandchildren, Ruby Simpson and Ansel Simpson; sister-in-law, Cathy Price (Johnny) of Abbeville, SC; brother-in-law, Bobby Brown (Tina) of Prosperity, SC; six nephews, two nieces and nine great-nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Mike’s life will be 11:00AM, Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home – Abbeville Chapel with Rev. Dr. Dale Levan and Rev. Dr. Alvin Hodges officiating. The family will visit with friends and family following the service.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Mike, may be sent to Rice Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 1975 Hwy. 72 West, Greenwood, SC 29649.
