Michael Walter Cooper, 63, of Abbeville, died Friday, December 19, 2025, at his home. He was the son of Joyce Cameron Cooper and the late Walter Roy Cooper.
A proud graduate of Abbeville High School, Class of 1982, Mike furthered his education at Piedmont Technical College. In his career, he made significant contributions to the car industry, serving as a salesman, manager, and consultant. Most recently, he was known for his enthusiastic commitment while driving cars for Balentine Ford Motor Company and working with Smokey Gray's BBQ.
Mike was known for his spirited enthusiasm as an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and a steadfast supporter of Abbeville High School Panthers. His love for sports extended beyond fandom; he also enjoyed playing golf. Mike’s appreciation for the outdoors was matched only by his affection for animals. He was a member of Rock Presbyterian Church
Mike lived a fulfilling life marked by dedication to his profession, love for his family, and a wide array of personal interests.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Thompson.
Mike is survived by his mother, Joyce, of Abbeville; three sisters, Angie Mullet (Myron), Patti McNeil (Scott), and Tammy Brock (Bob); two special nieces and a nephew, Jo Marie Price (Chris), Anna Grace Jordan (Jay) and Cooper Mullet (Kenzie); five beloved great-nieces and nephews, Jack, Carlisle, Rosie, Ella Claire and Chapel; and many extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be 3:00PM, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Long Cane Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Alvin Hodges and Rev. Chris Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends and family after the service.
