Mary Woodall Hughes Mcneill

Mary Woodall Hughes McNeill, 80, of Greenville, formerly of Abbeville, wife of Lowrie W. McNeill, died Monday, August 12, 2019, at the Poinsett Healthcare and Rehab in Greenville.  She was born in Stone Mountain, GA, a daughter of the late Luther and Ruth Bowie Woodall and the late Martha Elizabeth Headrick Woodall.

Time spent gardening and taking care of others brought Mary much happiness.  She was fond of animals, especially dogs.  Often, one would see her walking her dog and enjoying an afternoon stroll down North Main Street in Abbeville.  Mary worshipped at Lebanon Presbyterian Church for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles A. ‘Charlie’ Hughes; a brother and sister-in-law, Aubrey James Woodall and Sybil Fleming Woodall; and a sister, Virginia W. Ashley.

Mary is survived by her husband, Lowrie; a daughter, Tina Eddleman (Wilbur) of Greenville; a son, Grady Nimon Hughes of Greenwood; a sister, Martha W. Balentine (Buddy) of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Nikki Stevenson, Cassidy Hughes, Shawn Hughes and Noah Hughes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 11:00AM – 12:00PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel.  Funeral services will begin at 12:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Earl Hartley officiating.  Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
