Marsha Gaines Hartsfield, 84, of Abbeville, wife of the late Andrew 'Earl' Hartsfield, died peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, at her home. She was born on September 29, 1941 in Birmingham, AL to the late Thomas Ervin and Lucille Dellinger Gaines.
A 1960 graduate of Abbeville High School and devoted member of Abbeville First Baptist Church where she was baptized as a young child, Marsha was completely devoted to the Lord, loved Him completely, and she lived her life for Him. She enjoyed reading her Bible daily. It was a source of comfort, strength and inspiration for her.
Marsha loved her family dearly and never tired of spending time with them. Marsha was a beautiful child of God who thought with her heart and always put others before herself. She was pure of heart. One word that describes her completely is love.
Her faith in God carried her through the difficult times in her life. She never gave up. She never stopped trusting God. She never stopped loving. Her memory lives on through her children and everyone who knew her and loved her.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Ellen Gaines Hyatt and her niece, Keely Hartsfield.
Marsha is survived by her son, Andrew E. Hartsfield, Jr. of Abbeville; her daughter Tina Hartsfield Dinges (Mark) of Kansas City, Missouri; her niece, Judy Hartsfield Gedies; two nephews, Tom Hyatt, Jason Hyatt (Kari); two great-nephews, Robert Hartsfield Gedies (Olivia), and Michael Warren Gedies (Vicki); great-niece, Hadley Hyatt; and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Friday, July 3, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC 29620. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Trent Willey officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
