Margie Ree Spires Powell

Margie Ree Spires Powell, 90, of Lowndesville, wife of the late William M. ‘Bud’ Powell, Sr., died Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at AnMed Medical Center in Anderson. She was born in Lowndesville to the late Harry Spires, Jr. and Ellaree Little Spires.

Margie graduated from Lowndesville High School. She retired from Bigelow Sanford with 42 years of dedicated service. Margie found great joy in her faith and was actively involved in her church community at Lowndesville Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed opportunities to connect with others, often sharing meals and meaningful moments with her church family. Her enthusiasm for shopping highlighted her zest for life.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William M. ‘Buddy’ Powell, Jr.; her siblings, Junior Spires, J. Hughe Spires, Ray C. Spires, Frances Spires Burriss, Catherine Spires Nelson and Mildred Maxine Spires.

Margie is survived by her two daughters, Dianne (Michael) Wells of Starr and Sheryl Simpson of Iva, SC; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 1:30PM – 2:30PM, Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Scotty Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery, Lowndesville, SC.
