Manning N. "Nick" Lomax, husband of Sara T. "Sally" Lomax died September 3, 2026.
The son of the late James V. And Bernice M. Lomax, he was a native of Abbeville, SC.
He was a 1963 alumnus of Clemson College where he attended on a baseball scholarship. After his graduation, Nick served in the Army for two years, then joined the Clemson administration where he held various positions over his 31-year career, including Vice President of Student Affairs, Vice President of Administration, and Executive Secretary of the Board of Trustees. In 1996 he retired from Clemson and started a consulting business in campus facility development.
Along the way Nick received many honors including Clemson's Alumni Distinguished Service Award. The Atrium of Clemson's Hendrix Student Center was named for him, and he was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Clemson. In 1987, Lander University bestowed upon him an Honorary Doctor of Humanities Degree. In 2026 he was the recipient of the Bond Distinguished Athlete Award at Clemson University.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Jean L. Bolton (Stephen), his son Manning N. Lomax Jr. (Michelle), and his grandchildren, Madeleine G. Lomax, and Noah N. Lomax.

A Memorial Service in honor of Nick will be held Sunday, September 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM. A visitation will be held after the service.
