Lois Lorene Boetel

March 1, 1923 — January 11, 2019

Lois Lorene Boetel, 95, wife of the late Christian Boetel, of Alcester, SD, died Friday, January 11, 2019 in Abbeville, SC. She was born in Wells, MN to the late Ira and Anna McKean Roberts.

Mrs. Boetel was reared in Minnesota, then moved to Hawarden, IA where she was employed as a supervisor for Otis Manufacturing. She later made her home in Alcester, SD where she was associated with Reid’s Corner Café. Mrs. Boetel enjoyed her quiet time reading, taking care of her dog, Oso, and was widely known for her superb baking of cookies and pies. During the past year, she moved to South Carolina to be close to her family. Mrs. Boetel was of the United Methodist faith.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Reid Boetel; four brothers, Lee, Kenny, Donny and Lowell Roberts; and a sister, Ellen Studelska.

Mrs. Boetel is survived by her granddaughter, Elena Sutton (Patrick) of Hodges, SC; great-grandchildren, Sydney Sutton and Christian ‘Hunter’ Sutton; her dear friends, Merry Landenberger of Hawarden, IA and Kathie Winecoff of Greenwood, SC; and multiple nieces and nephews.

The burial will be held this spring in Alcester, SD.
