Lindal "Anderson" Erwin

December 1, 1930 — July 17, 2019

Lindal A. Erwin, 88, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Abbeville, SC, wife of the late Judge Marion Johnston Erwin, peacefully passed away early on the morning of July 17, 2019.  Born in Greenwood, SC, she was the youngest of six children, the daughter of to the late William Henry and Lila McMahan Anderson.

Mrs. Erwin, an accountant by training, worked with notable clients such as Bob Newbanks (The Newlywed Game Show), Tennessee Ernie Ford (Sixteen Tons); as well as, many other businesses.  She was a collector of Dresden Dolls and ceramics of every holiday.  Although these endeavors were meaningful to her, her most rewarding hours were spent shopping for family and sharing at special times.  A people person, she enjoyed meeting new people and focused attention on her friend’s happiness.  Mrs. Erwin was a member of the Abbeville Presbyterian Church and worshipped at Presbyterian churches in cities which she lived (e.g. Los Angeles and Novato, CA; Lake Oswego, Oregon; Hilton Head, SC and Indianapolis, IN).

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her five siblings and their spouses, Hubert Gary Anderson and his wife, Christine, William Robert Anderson, Margaret A. Nickles and her husband, Calvert, Mabel A. Hagan and her husband, R.C. and Antho A. Hannah and her husband, Jake.

Mrs. Erwin, the last surviving member of her immediate family, is survived by her son, Marion Johnston Erwin, Jr. and his wife, Vickie Lynn of Carmel, IN; three grandchildren, George Johnston Erwin, Jack Elijah Binder and Sabra Lynn Binder and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

According to her wishes, a graveside service will be held 1:00 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2019, in Long Cane Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Greg Henley officiating.
