Lillian Rhodes Gaines

April 13, 1921 — September 3, 2018

Lillian Rhodes Gaines, 97, wife of the late Colie Gaines, of Abbeville, died Monday, September 3, 2018 at her home. She was born in Abbeville County to the late Leonard R. and Paralee Prince Rhodes.

Mrs. Gaines retired from the J.P. Stevens Plant after many years of dedicated service. Many happy hours were spent quilting, sewing and gardening.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie Lee Morrow.

Mrs. Gaines is survived by her grandchildren, Alvin Morrow, Jr. of Calhoun Falls, David Meredith (Allison) of Fountain Inn, Phillip Meredith (Noemi), of Fountain Inn, Lester Morrow, of Abbeville, Tammy Fields (Waymond) of Abbeville, Cyndi M. Hughes of Calhoun Falls and Amelia Bolen of Abbeville and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10:00AM, Friday, September 7, 2018 in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 2699 Highway 72W, Abbeville, SC with the Rev. Dr. Fred Griggs officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials are sent to Harris Funeral Home, PO Box 549, Abbeville, SC 29620 in order to help offset the cost of Mrs. Gaines’ services.
