Lawrence B. Ashley

Lawrence B. Ashley, 75, of Starr, SC, died Sunday, June 30, 2024, at AnMed Medical Center in Anderson. He was born in Abbeville, SC, October 17, 1948, the son of Marvin and Margaret Ashley.

Throughout his life, Lawrence had a deep appreciation for music and spent countless hours enjoying its melodies and playing his guitar. His love for music not only brought him happiness but also touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. From a young age, Lawrence had the ability to pick up any instrument and start playing. He worshipped at Iva Church of God of Prophecy where he enjoyed singing and playing the piano.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Marvin Ashley and his loving companion of more than 20 years, Sue Gable.

Lawrence is survived by his sister, Amanda Ashley of Columbia; three aunts, Carrie Smith, Esthephine Ashley, both of Abbeville and Marilyn Ashley of Hiawasee, GA; numerous cousins and extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in Keowee Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.
