Kenneth Aldon Reece, 84, of Abbeville, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Callie and John Rainey Hospice House in Anderson. Ken was the beloved husband of Mary Martin "Betty" Reece. Born in Greer, SC, he was the son of the late Rev. David L. and Ruby Solesby Reece.
Ken graduated from Abbeville High School in 1961. He enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Conductor with CSX Railroad, retiring after 27 years of dedicated service. He actively participated in Abbeville Youth Athletics and was a passionate supporter of Abbeville High School sports particularly football and baseball. Ken was also a Master Gardener, a member of the Southern Squares Dance Club, and the United Transportation Union. For over 40 years, he was a committed member of the Clinton Lodge #3 AFM. His faith journey included time as a member of Grace United Methodist Church before joining Main Street Methodist Church.
Ken cherished his family deeply, taking immense pride in his grandchildren. His contributions and love for his community and family will be fondly remembered.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Don Reece.
Ken is survived by his wife Betty of 31 years of the home; his children, Cheryl R. Hill (Jamey), Marie Hindman (Pat) and Rebecca Gill (Randy); two sisters, Janice Campbell (Jerry) and Terri Gregory (Perry); seven grandchildren, Jake, Caitlin, Kyle, Daniel, Lauren, Morgan and Jillian.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:30PM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00PM on Wednesday at Main Street Methodist Church with the Rev. Brandon Fulmer officiating. Burial will be in Long Cane Cemetery.
