Katina Affinito Wood

Katina A. Wood, born in Cook County, Chicago, Illinois on June 7, 1955, passed away suddenly near her residence in Abbeville, South Carolina on September 10, 2026, at the age of 71.

Katina was a deeply loved woman whose warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit touched everyone who knew her. She always had a smile on her face, bringing comfort, light, and joy to every room she entered.

An accomplished individual, Katina earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Rosary College (now Dominican University) in River Forest, Illinois, and went on to complete her M.B.A at the same institution. She channeled her intellect and leadership into a successful career as the Manager of Revenue Cycle for Endeavor Health in Elmhurst, Illinois, from which she eventually retired before relocating to South Carolina. Her dedication was highly respected by her colleagues.

An exceptionally caring and social person, Katina shared her energy through her favorite hobbies, which included cooking, crafting, and playing cards. She loved the friendly competition and connection of a card game, and she regularly used her culinary talents to bless others by preparing and delivering food to shut-ins and those in need. After relocating, she joined McCormick First Baptist Church, McCormick, South Carolina, in August of 2026. She hit the ground running, assisting in the nursery, kitchen, and most recently with Vacation Bible School. Her selflessness and bright spirit left a lasting impact on many lives in every community she touched.

Katina was the beloved wife of Raymond (Chip) Bernard Wood and the devoted mother of James Wood. She was the cherished sister of Constance (Connie) Venditti, the loving aunt of Andrea Venditti, and the adored grandmother of Levi Austin Strom and Elliot Francis Smith. She is also survived by Linda (Bill) Wood, Stephen (John) Wood, Kevin (Kelly) Wood, Laura (Chris) Mesmer and many nieces, nephews and cousins within the Wood family. Lifelong friends, Bernadette Skinner and Sharon Rimgale are suffering her loss along with so many others.

She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew F. Affinito, her mother, Alice Colovos Affinito, her brother-in-law Louis (Connie) Venditti, and sister-in-law Lisa (Carl) Wood-Gehle. Her sudden departure leaves a profound absence, but her memory will live on forever in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many people she quietly served.

A service to celebrate Katina's life will be held 11:00AM on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in the McCormick First Baptist Church, 108 South Oak St. McCormick, SC 29835.
