Katherine Jane Taylor Brown

Katherine Jane Taylor Brown, 80, of Abbeville, died Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Lakelands Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Ebensburg, PA to the late Robert Richard Taylor, Thelma Katherine Askew Taylor and her stepmother Kathryn Taylor.

Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Bob Jones Academy and earned her associate degree from Virginia College. She dedicated many years as office manager for Dr. Robert Wilson’s medical practice in Greenville prior to retiring from Self Regional Healthcare. A committed member of Westside Baptist Church in Abbeville, she also served as a Sunday School teacher.

Mrs. Brown enjoyed puzzles and quilting, contributing many quilts to the Quilts of Honor initiative and actively participating in the Abbeville Quilting Guild.

She was twice married, first to the late William Earl Pearson and then to the late David Brown.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert Richard Taylor, Jr. and Harry Taylor. She was one of six children — the youngest of a set of twins with her brother Steve. The Taylor siblings included: Robert (the oldest, deceased), Harry (deceased), Tom and Ann (twins), and Steve and Jane (twins). She also had a step-brother, Don Hindman, and a step-sister, Barbara Hindman.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her children: David Earl Pearson, Steven Pearson (Crystal), Mary Hill (Ricky), Ruth Ventrello (Michael), Wayne Brown (Renita), Melissa Goldman, Linda Jo Gainey (Jimmy), and Windy Kay Brown. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:30AM to 12:30PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home in Abbeville. Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Michael Ventrello officiating. Burial will be private in Parksville Baptist Church Cemetery.
