Julia Bouchillon Alewine, 91, of the Antreville Community in Abbeville County, wife of the late Sam W. Alewine, died Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC. She was born in Abbeville County to the late Lee Junot Bouchillon and Frances Mae Campbell Bouchillon.
A graduate of Antreville High School, Mrs. Alewine devoted an impressive 40 years to Clark Schwebel, where she worked diligently in the accounting department. Family held a special place in her heart, and she was known for her unwavering love and devotion to those closest to her. She loved visiting her niece’s daughter, Jolie, and her daughters, Pruitt and Willa, and treasured the joy and love they brought her. Mrs. Alewine cherished her friends and enjoyed visiting shut-ins, offering comfort and companionship where it was most needed. She loved animals deeply and found joy in their companionship, especially her beloved cat, Tabby. She worshipped at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Alewine leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and compassion.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Junot Glenn Bouchillon, Bonnie Louie Bouchillon, Archie E. ‘A.E.’ Bouchillon, Gilford Campbell Bouchillon, Claude Hobson Bouchillon and Roger L. Bouchillon; and her sister, Leuna Bouchillon Kay.
Mrs. Alewine is survived by her daughter, Sheila R. Alewine of Anderson; son, Wendel L. Alewine (Shari) of Boerne, TX; and her fur baby, Tabby.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 15, 2026, from 12:30PM-1:30PM at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC 29620. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Bells Chapel cemetery, 2540 Flat Rock Road, Abbeville, SC 29620.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Alewine, may be sent to Bells Chapel Fellowship Hall Fund, 2540 Flat Rock Road, Abbeville, SC 29620.
