Hannah Joyce Stewart Ferguson, 85, of Abbeville, wife of the late Robert ‘Frog’ Ferguson, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 18, 2026. She was born in Danielsville, Georgia to the late Robert and Mildred Stewart.
A 1958 graduate of Abbeville High School, Joyce was employed with Bi-Lo for more than 30 years, where she faithfully served as a bookkeeper. She and her husband were the owners of Burger Town in Abbeville, a beloved local gathering place where they served not only food, but memories, for 17 years. An active member of Sharon Methodist Church, Joyce especially enjoyed singing in the church choir and being part of her church family.
Above all else, her greatest joy and proudest legacy was her family. As a devoted daughter, Joyce carried the values instilled by her parents throughout her life. As a loving wife, she shared many years if hard work, and laughter with her husband, Frog. Joyce was a dedicated mother, a guiding presence whose love and strength shaped generations.
She found her deepest happiness in time spent with her family, whether gathered around the table enjoying her delicious meals or simply enjoying one another’s company. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love will live on through the many generations she nurtured.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Joe Stewart, son-in-law, John Wayne Price, grandson, Shannon Price and brother-in-law, Cecil Ashley.
Joyce is survived by her loving family, including her children, Donna Young (Kenny), Tammie Price, Craig Ferguson (Cecily) and Angie Hammonds (Hambone) and her sister, Nancy Stewart Ashley. She was a treasured grandmother of 14, great-grandmother of 23 and great-great-grandmother of 3. Her love extended far beyond bloodlines, touching many who were not family by birth but family in every way that mattered. She was deeply cared for by, Janice Chandler, for over five years, whose kindness and steady presence became a true blessing to her and her family. She answered to many names given with love, mama, maw, maw maw, and mama J, each one reflecting a special relationship she held dear. Her life was guided by her love of the Lord, her devotion to the Bible and prayer, and the joy she found singing hymns.
The family will receive friends 1:00PM – 2:30PM, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel. A private burial service will be held in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to Agape Hospice, Your Health, and all the doctors, nurses and their staff for the love and care shown Joyce.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions, in memory of Joyce, be sent to A Place For Us Ministries International, Inc., PO Box 797, Greenwood, SC 29648 or Sharon Methodist Church, 246 Sharon Church Road, Abbeville, SC 29620.
