Joey Brubaker

Joseph ‘Joey’ Miller Brubaker, II, 72, of Abbeville, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at his residence.  He was born in Abbeville to the late Captain Joseph ‘Joe’ Brubaker, US Army Ret. and the late Beatrice Blanchett Brubaker.

Joey graduated from Abbeville High School, Class of 1970.  Following graduation, he embarked on a distinguished career as an Electrical Engineer with the US Army Corps of Engineers, retiring after more than 30 years of dedicated service.  In his leisure time, Joey found peace in nature.  He cherished time spent at the beach and lake.  His adventurous spirit led him to explore the depths of the lake as a member of the Dive Team.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister, Richard Brubaker and Freda Augustus Hutson.

Joey is survived by his special friend and caregiver, Darlene Gilmer; three nieces, Susan Davis, Mary Forrest and Kelly Metts; and a nephew, Joseph Hutson.

A celebration of Joey’s life will be held at a later date.
