Joe Gingerich

Joe Gingerich, 80, of Abbeville, husband of Carolyn Tapscott Gingerich, died Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.  He was born in Hartville, OH to the late Daniel J. and Elizabeth Miller Gingerich.

Joe retired from SCE&G in Abbeville as a gas journeyman after many dedicated years of service.  He later owned and operated Gingerich Gas Service in McCormick.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Gingerich and two sisters, Mary G. Hershberger and Betty G. Hershberger.

Joe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn, of the home; two sons, Marty Gingerich of McCormick and Kevin Gingerich (Diana) of Abbeville; four brothers, Pete Gingerich (Pauline), Dan Gingerich (Mary), Alvin Gingerich (Martha) and Moses Gingerich (Miriam); five sisters, Sarah Anderson, Viola Schlabach, Miriam Gingerich, Ruby Stanley and Carolyn Beiler; two grandchildren, Kelley Gingerich and Taylor Timmerman; three great-grandchildren; Alexia and Brody Vickery and Gracie Gary; and a sister-in-law, Gerri Gingerich.

The family will receive friends 2:00PM – 3:30PM, Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel.  Funeral services will follow at 4:00PM in the funeral home chapel. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
