Jerry Wilton Hall

July 3, 1944 — February 15, 2020

Jerry Wilton Hall, 75, of Donalds, husband of Mamie Machen Hall, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at his residence.  He was born July 3, 1944 in Anderson to the late James and Helen Moore Hall.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Mamie, of 43 years; his children, David Wilton Hall (Teresa) of Honea Path, Teresa Coward (Ben) of Donalds, Beth McCullough (John) of Parksville, SC and Jeremy Hall of Donalds; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Hall (Becky) of Due West and Terry Hall (Jenny) of Honea Path; a sister, Pauline Stone of Donalds; and many nieces and nephews.

He was a founding member, actively involved with New Hope Baptist Church.  Jerry honorably served his country in the United States Army.  He attended Erskine College and received his HVAC certification from Piedmont Technical College.  Jerry retired after 23 years of service as the Erskine College maintenance supervisor.  He was a former member of the Donalds Fire Department and Donalds-Due West EMS.

Jerry’s love for others was exemplified by preparing meals, free of charge, for family, neighbors and his community from Uncle Jerry’s Kitchen.  With the encouragement of his family, he created a cooking show on the local West Carolina cable station entitled ‘Old Time Country Cooking’ which provided information on how to properly prepare meals.  Each week, he and his volunteers shared the prepared food with those in need.  This successful program enabled him to become widely known and respected.

In addition, Jerry appeared as a guest on the ‘Rachael Ray Show’ in New York.  While on the show, he was presented with an award as well as financial support to provide food to help feed the community.

Jerry also generously supported the Appalachian Ministries by giving of his time, energy and money.  He chose to show the love of Christ through his life and dedicated himself to the ministry of doing good deeds for others.  Jerry hoped that what he did will inspire and touch others to take the Lord’s leading as he has done.

He was recognized with a resolution in January 2014 by the Abbeville County Council for his service to the residents of Abbeville County.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Prince Hall; a brother-in-law, Robert Allen Stone; and three nieces, Kathy Stone Busby, Janice Stone and Robin Stone.

The family will receive friends 1:30PM - 3:30PM, Saturday, February 22, 2020 in the New Hope Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Due West.  A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will begin at 4:00PM in the Fellowship Hall with Rev. Richard Ashley and Rev. Roscoe Wilson officiating.
