Jeane A. "Ankerman" Newman

Jeane A. Newman, 94, wife of the late Rev. James Newman, of Abbeville, went to her Heavenly home Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. Born in Wapakoneta, OH, July 11, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Burneta Ankerman.

Mrs. Newman was a beloved preacher’s wife, a wonderful mother and a gracious friend. She was a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Newman is survived by a daughter, Sandra N. Martin (Robert) of Abbeville; two sons, Richard Newman (Debra) of Philadelphia, PA and Douglas Newman of Greenwood; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother-in-law, George Newman (Gloria) of North Carolina and two nieces, Patricia Rhoades of Greenwood and Peggy Ankerman-Maina of Florida.

The family will receive friends 10:00AM – 11:00AM, Monday, June 3, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brian Arant and Dr. Allen Kolb officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Newman, may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
