Jan M. Comelio

Janice M. ‘Jan’ Comelio, 92, of Due West, SC, wife of the late Mario L. Comelio, died Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at The Renaissance in Due West. She was born in Shible Township – Swift County, Minnesota to the late John H. and Sophie Madetzke Schulte.

Jan dedicated many years as a bookkeeper, where she was known for accuracy and detail in her work. In 1952, she began working with United Airlines in California, marking a significant chapter in her career. In her leisure time, Jan had a passion for golf, a hobby she cherished that allowed her to enjoy the outdoors and connect with friends. Additionally, she enjoyed the thrill of visiting casinos and the enriching experiences of going on cruises, which allowed her to explore new places and cultures. Jan attended Due West Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Comelio; three brothers, Hilbert, Robert and Wallace Schulte; and six sisters, Jeanette Swanson, Irene Louise Ann Rakow, Alice Virginia Pansch, Virginia ‘Ginny’ Novak, Donna LaDean Blahosky and Adeline E. Leland.

Jan is survived by her son, Cory (Christine) Comelio of Donalds, SC; daughter, Dina Jan (Albert Pacifico) Comelio of Seattle, WA; three grandchildren, Tasja, Lucia and Grayson; brother, Gene Schulte of Ortonville, MN; and many extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends 5:00PM – 7:00PM, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel. Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in the Harris Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Donnie Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in the Due West Baptist Church Cemetery.
