Helen Morris Bridges

Helen Morris Bridges, 91, of Greenwood, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at NHC Healthcare Greenwood. She was born in Sherwood, TN to the late Luther and Dona Morris.

As a devoted homemaker, Helen found joy in caring for her family. A woman of deep faith, she took great pleasure in reading her bible, finding peace and inspiration in the teachings of the written word. Helen was of the Holiness faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James ‘Jamie’ Alvin Bridges; daughter, Carolyn Jan Bridges; four brothers, Bill, John, Jimmy and Charles Morris; two sisters, Polly McCord and Verna Mobley; and her grandson, Evan Bridges.

Helen is survived by her children, Linda Bridges Irwin of Greenwood, SC, Frankie Bridges (Patti) of Princeton, SC; Ronnie Bridges of Hodges, SC and Teresa Shepherd (Steven) of Naples, FL; a sister. Martha Morris of Abbeville, SC; fifteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 10:00AM – 11:00AM, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
