Harry Wilkins ‘Kin’ Chandler, Jr., 67, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his home. He was born in Greenwood, SC on September 30, 1958 to Harry Wilkins Chandler, Sr. and Lura Jean Williams Chandler.
Kin was a graduate of Abbeville High School, Class of 1976. He attended Spartanburg Methodist College and later Piedmont Technical College where he received a degree in Engineering Graphics Technology. For 32 years, Kin was employed at South Atlantic Construction Company in Greenwood as an Estimator and Draftsman. At the time of his illness, he was employed with KCI, an engineering firm in Powdersville, SC, as a Project Manager. At a young age, he became a member of the Abbeville Presbyterian Church and later was a member of Little River Baptist Church.
Kin loved books and was an avid reader. He enjoyed cooking on the grill for his family and friends. As a lover of the outdoors, he spent many happy times camping, hunting and fishing with his many friends. He also spent many hours meticulously caring for his yard and property.
Kin was preceded in death by his father, Harry W. Chandler, Sr., and his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Caleb W. Chandler and Mr. & Mrs. Richard H. Williams.
He is survived by his son, Caleb Wilkins Chandler; daughter, Halle Elizabeth Chandler; grandchildren, James Benjamin Wilkins ‘JB’, Ryleigh Lorel, and Liam Daniel; mother, Lura Jean Chandler; sister, Anne Clarke Chandler; the mother of his children, Mandy Ashcraft Chandler; his caregiver and longtime friend, Sylvia Jane Stewart; and his little dog, Ray Ray.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00PM, Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Abbeville Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. Francis R. ‘Dick’ Williams officiating.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Kin, may be sent to the Humane Society of Abbeville County, PO Box 256, Abbeville, SC or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to a charity of your choice.
The family are at their respective homes.
